October 29-November 2

LANGUAGE ARTS 7:
MONDAY: Finish "Surfing Iowa" TDA organizer.
TUESDAY: Finish copying final TDA. Final TDA is due by the end of class. If it is not submitted, it becomes homework and must be submitted at the beginning of Wednesday's class.
WEDNESDAY: In class reading of "The Landlady."
THURSDAY: Begin work on independent TDA for "The Landlady."
FRIDAY: Library/SSR day. Today may also be used as a catch-up day for "The Landlady" TDA.

Students may be assigned work outside of class depending on their work completion in class.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH 9:
MONDAY:  Review comparing texts; time in class to work on test study guide.
TUESDAY:  In-class review for tomorrow's test using Kahoot!
WEDNESDAY: World's End Unit Test!
THURSDAY: Wrap up of unit test. Please bring work to complete.
FRIDAY:  Review of narrative plot structure and literary elements using children's books.

October 22-26

LANGUAGE ARTS 7:
This week, we will spend Monday finishing our final copy for the first TDA. If you do not finish copying your TDA in class on Monday, then it becomes homework. On Tuesday through Friday, students will work in small groups to work through their second TDA, "Surfing Iowa." The plan for completion is:
TUESDAY: First read & annotations.
WEDNESDAY: Introduction, body paragraph 1, and body paragraph 2.
THURSDAY: Body paragraph 3 and conclusion.
FRIDAY: Final copy.

Students may be assigned work outside of class depending on their work completion in class.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH 9:
MONDAY:  Finish listening to "War of the Worlds" and completion of timeline doodle notes.
TUESDAY:  Reading "Why Do People Believe Things That Aren't True?" and analysis of reasons and their application to "War of the Worlds."
WEDNESDAY: Background notes for & first read of "Myth of the War of the Worlds Panic." Completion of comprehension check.
THURSDAY: Close read and text analysis for "Myth of the War of the Worlds Panic." Comparison of work with classmates' work.
FRIDAY:  Writing to compare.

** Your test will be on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31.

It is your responsibility to complete anything not finished in class.

LANGUAGE ARTS 7:
This week, we will begin putting together everything we've learned about close reading, analyzing, and reading with a purpose to write our first TDA. We will spread the process out over the course of the week so we can make sure that we fully understand each step. There will be no out of class homework this week.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH 9:
MONDAY:  Background notes & cultural context for "War of the Worlds."
TUESDAY:  First listen to "War of the Worlds" and completion of timeline doodle notes.
WEDNESDAY: Analyze the Media (on worksheet) for "War of the Worlds."
THURSDAY:
 Writing to Sources for "War of the Worlds."
FRIDAY:  Listening to "War of the Worlds" original broadcast.

It is your responsibility to complete anything not finished in class.

This week, we will continue working through reading with a purpose and annotating our textual evidence to help us with our explanations.We will practice with three texts before we move on to the next steps next week. On Friday, we will have a library & SSR day. There will be no out of class work this week.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH 9:
MONDAY:  No school.
TUESDAY:  Analyze Craft & Structure and Author's Style for "Nuclear Tourist."
WEDNESDAY: Notes for poetry collection; reading poetry collection and complete comprehension check; vocabulary work.
THURSDAY:
 Close read poems; complete Analyze the Text & Analyze Craft and Structure.
FRIDAY:  Review sound devices and complete Author's Style for poetry collection.
