March 20 Update

LANGUAGE ARTS
As you may have seen, the PA Department of Education has cancelled state testing this year so we can focus on the well-being and safety of our students instead. However, I'd really hate to see all of your hard work over the last 6 1/2 months be for naught, so hopefully you'll find some benefit in continuing to practice your skills while we are out of the building.

Three great resources are:

Scholastic:
Really great interactive articles, activities, quizzes, and resources.

Study Island:
http://www.studyisland.com Click on orange “LOG IN” button in the upper right hand corner. Choose “STUDY ISLAND FOR SCHOOLS.” Username is lunch number followed by @ns (1234@ns) and the password was set by students. If you need your password, just email me and I can look it up for you.

50 Educational Websites for Students Learning at Home:
This website has a TON of resources for all subjects.

If you are missing any work from the marking period, this would also be a great time to get caught up. You can email me electronic copies or even photos of completed work. Beyond that, any work that is completed from the websites above is only for practice and not for a grade.

CAREER EXPLORATIONS:
As we wait to hear further instruction, you may want to continue working through Choices360 as an option for something to fill the time. The pages we've used for research include links to organizations and activities that will help you learn more about your career choice!

ALL:
Please stay tuned. The situation is RAPIDLY changing. If we do not resume school next week, further instruction will come regarding distance learning. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have. In the meantime, it may be beneficial to familiarize yourself with Google Classrooms. I will be working on setting up "just in case" classrooms for Language Arts over the next few days. Be checking your GAPPS email.

March 16-20

LANGUAGE ARTS 7:
This week, we will be spending the entire week working on our Poetry Analysis presentations. Remember, this is your biggest assignment of the year and is bringing together everything you've learned throughout the last few months - not just poetic devices, but also how to explain your reasoning and how to express your thoughts. Monday through Wednesday will be spent putting our presentations together. On Thursday, we will begin presenting and will wrap-up any unfinished presentations on Friday. Friday is also the last day of the marking period, so be sure to turn in any missing work by then.

CAREER EXPLORATIONS:
This week, we are continuing our final project. On Monday, we will finish our resumes. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent working on cover letters. Thursday and Friday will be catch-up and wrap-up days, ending with an evaluation of the course on our last day.
