September 9-13

LANGUAGE ARTS 7:
This week, we will start working on our first big unit: Key Ideas and Details in Informational Text. We'll start off with central idea and objective summary. Monday will be a whole class review of central idea while working through rotations covering word grouping, relevancy, and order and sequence. Tuesday will be spent practicing writing objective summaries. The remainder of the week, we will be working in our four rotation assignments:

  1. Indepenent: Study Island for summarization practice
  2. Small Group: "Forest Fires Burning in the Amazon Raise Concerns"
  3. Guided Instruction: "Barbara Morgan, Teacher and Astronaut"
  4. SSR: What is the central idea of your reading?
There will be a quiz on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17. 



CAREER EXPLORATIONS:
On Monday, we will continue working on the public busing problem activity covering the transportation career cluster. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent in the architecture and construction cluster with a hands-on project completed in class in which students will be redesigning the blueprints for Knoebel's Haunted Mansion. Thursday and Friday will be spent in the manufacturing cluster with students working on designing a car with a culminating race on Friday.
